Michael Jackson's "Thriller"--Reggae-style?

OMG YES! Check it out at the High Noon Friday night. Performed by NYC-based Easy Star All-Stars who have also covered Pink Floyd on "Dub Side of the Moon," Radiohead on "Radiodread," and the Beatles on "Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band." They'll be joined by Cas Healy, and Tropical Riddims Sound System. 9:30pm. $15. 18+

As long as we're talking cover bands playing in Madison on Friday night, Get the Led Out, a nationally touring Led Zeppelin tribute band, is playing at the Barrymore at 8pm, $25.

Playing Saturday at the High Noon are the Blueheels, Control, and Dietrich Gosser, leaving no stone unturned covering indie tinged with Americana, dub, surf punk, rock and folk. 9:00pm. $10.

Majectic is hosting the Suburbs, and local band the German Art Students, 8:30pm. $20.

And if you really feel like dancing, Teengirl Fantasy will be filling the Sett at Union South with a mix of live improvised instruments over electronic beats composed on the spot. 9:00pm. Free.

And finally, just a note that it's the last week for the "Smart Sounds, Alt Music, Mad Scenes" exhibit at the Wisconsin Historical Museum. This exhibit explores the time when Madison’s Smart Studios recorded and produced local and national punk, alternative, and grunge artists like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Garbage. 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. By donation.
