Madison's Death Door Gin makes appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show

Rachel Maddow likes to highlight the art of cocktail making on her show. Friday night, in honor of both the alleged forthcoming Rapture and her colleague Lawrence O'Donnell who has been covering Harold Camping's con (noting he's likely made off with $70 million thanks to his followers), Maddow mixed a Prohibition-era drink called "The Last Word." Maddow notes that the revitalization of the drink can be credited to Seattle's Zig Zag Cafe, but if you'd like to have it professionally mixed locally it's a featured drink at Merchant. In the recipe she uses Madison's Death's Door Gin, which has in recent months become her go to Gin on the show. The recipe is below followed by the video of Maddow's segment.

Equal parts:

* gin
* fresh lime juice
* maraschino liqueur (Rachel recommends Luxardo brand)
* green Chartreuse

Shake well with ice for longer than you think you need to, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
