Come on down to Broom Street Theater on Sunday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. to check out the next installment of Broom Street Sessions, the latest in the live music series that runs (almost) every Sunday during the first week of each production run. Next up: Count This Penny and Whitney Mann.
Count This Penny is an indie folk band based in Madison, Wisconsin, by way of East Tennessee. The band recently appeared on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" and has also played on Wisconsin Public Radio and WDVX's Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, Tennessee. The band's music has a classic Americana feel with a modern, pop structure. Their new album, Pitchman, is due out Oct. 2.
Whitney Mann is a gifted country singer-songwriter originally from rural Michigan. Her music follows the classic traditions of the Carter Family and Emmylou Harris. She has opened for Willy Nelson, Loretta Lynn, and Ray LaMontagne, and won Folk / Americana Performer of the Year at the 2012 MAMAs.
